If you have just a small portion on your body that is just a little imperfect then maybe you should consider mini liposuction. This is right for those who are only a little bit overweight and have a certain spot or spots on their body they want to correct. Mini lipo is a name given to any liposuction procedure that is small and not complicated. You don’t necessarily need to be obese to have liposuction. Sometimes all you need is to trim off only 2 or 3 inches of belly fat to have a perfectly flat stomach. You might think that a person could just diet and exercise such little body fat but that isn’t so easy. You can lose so much weight and once you reach the last ten pounds it’s the hardest to burn off. This is very common though, the last few pounds of fat is the most difficult to lose. This fat is named “brown fat”. If you have this then mini liposuction is all you need.

Men and women can have brown fat, it is usually located on the belly or the chest area. You know if you have brown fat if you are thin person but not exactly tight. If you still don’t get it just remember that if you are able to pinch a more than an inch then that’s what you need to focus on. You might even know this as skinny fat.

Some people have a nice figure but also have some excess fat around the knees. Mini liposuction can remove this fat and leave you with nicely shaped knees. What about behind the elbow? Yes, some people have a little extra fat back there which can simply be removed. Under the chin could also be a little too fatty for many people.

During a mini-liposuction a patient would only need local anesthesia which means they will be awake during the whole surgery. The whole process would only take up to an hour. This means there are far less risks then regular liposuction.

Recovery is very quick with minimal pain and bruising. You can resume your normal life and go back to work the next day. Keep in mind that min-lipo is still a surgical procedure and as with any kind of surgery the risk of infection in that area is still possible. You can consult with a doctor and discuss your situation with him/her. After you have learned all the risks and benefits you can then decide what you want to do.

So you have decided that liposuction is what you want to have done. You have found a good surgeon with recommendation from other patients as well as a professional association. You have researched the risks and have considered the benefits. Still, you want to move forward with the liposuction, but the price tag is standing in the way. Today, with sky-rocketing medical costs and a weak economy, choosing to have an elective surgery like liposuction is not an easy choice, but there are options.

The typical costs of liposuction can begin around $2,000 and can exceed $11,000. The variation in these prices depend on several factors including how many areas of the body that you are having processed, the type of facility you use, the surgeon you selected, and the type of procedure that he or she uses.

However, these are not the only costs associated with plastic surgery. Because this type of procedure is evasive, it may likely require general anesthesia, which costs money. If the work to be done is extensive you may need an anesthesiologist, which also increases your total costs. All said and done, however, an average liposuction will range between $2,500 and $3,000.

Still, money is a concern, which is stopping you from moving forward. However, there are ways to finance the procedure so you can look better now while paying the money back later. The quickest way to pay for your procedure is to use your credit card. This automatically transfers the fees into monthly payments that you may already be making.

However, this should only be an option if you have a good rate on your credit card. If you charge $3000 on a card that has an interest rate of 29% (and it is not unreasonable to have such cards today), your monthly payment would be $127 over 3 years. Additionally, your procedure, with interest would be almost $4500. At 15%, your payment would be $105 over 3 years and a total of $3800.

Another option to financing your liposuction procedure is to go through a financing company that specializes in small loans for cosmetic surgery. Some companies charge low interest rates as much as 5.9%, but even at 7-14% this is a much better value than several credit cards. There are various companies worth considering that can be found on the Internet.

Also, ask your surgeon or the facility that you would be using for the procedure if they have payment schedules. This way, the payments are taken care of in-house and you do not have to deal with a separate company.

Still, the facility is likely to charge you interest as well because you are technically borrowing money. However, some facilities allow you to pay over a 3-month period that greatly reduces the amount of interest you would pay on a loan.

The most cost effective way to pay for your liposuction is to set up a separate savings account or possible even a CD account with a decent interest rate. Have a portion of your income go into that account monthly until you have the necessary amount. Although you will have to wait to have the procedure you really want now, you will save money in the long run.

If you are one of the millions of Americans who are overweight or obese, good news – your weight loss surgery will be covered by your insurance carrier. The bad news is, of course, that coverage comes with many conditions attached to it. Weight loss surgery is performed on very overweight individuals who can’t seem to lose weight even with a healthy diet and exercise regimen. There are four types of procedures available: adjustable gastric band, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, biliopancreatic diversion with a duodenal switch and vertical sleeve gastrectomy.

If you are insured under Medicare, your weight loss surgery has traditionally been covered under co-morbid illnesses like high blood pressure, diabetes and sleep apnea, meaning that the patient was qualified to have surgery only if he or she had one of these conditions. However, it was only recently that Medicare implicitly recognized obesity as an illness through changes in their policy statement. These changes were seen as an acknowledgment by the social insurance program of the high monetary and health costs of obesity and overweight.

For private insurance companies, coverage of weight loss surgery is a way for them to cut costs. It costs less for the carrier to pay for a gastric bypass or gastrectomy then to continue to shoulder the costs of diabetes medicine and treatment for a lifetime. However, the increased costs and number of procedures performed has led private insurance companies to make it more difficult to obtain approval. To illustrate, before approving surgery many insurance companies typically require written documentation from the patient that they had undergone six months to a year of a continually medically supervised diet.

You’ve probably heard it a hundred times before but I will say it again, incidental activity is very important in the process of losing weight as you can burn more calories than relying on dietary means alone.

Fat is burned from the body when cells oxidize to release energy in the form of exercise or movement. When the exercise is done slowly to moderately then the majority of energy is taken from the fat stores.

The loss of fat comes from fat cells all over the body, not from one or more specific area’s so spot reduction of a certain area is not possible. The main priority of this article is to show you the quickest and safest way to lose fat from the body.

The key to effective aerobic training that burns off the maximum amount of fat is long-term consistency not intensity. It doesn’t matter if you run a mile, jog a mile or walk a mile you will burn exactly the same amount of calories.

The best exercise by far for the purpose of fat-loss is fast walking either indoors on the treadmill or outdoors. What many don’t know is that walking produces a greater percentage of fat loss as opposed to jogging or running.

Other aerobic activities are the treadmill, bike, climber or any other training gear found in or out of the gym.

Walk or exercise until you are mildly puffing and hold that rate until the allotted time. If your aerobic activities leave you panting or breathless, your going too hard, your energy is coming from your carbohydrate reserves and not from your fat stores.

Try fast walking for one hour a day every day of the week if you are able.

Here are some of the benefits of Fast Walking.

· Easy to Perform
· Most Conventional
· All Natural Body Movement
· Doesn’t Cause Injuries
· Can Be Done Anywhere
· The Best Minimal Effort Exercise for Fat Loss

Research shows that regular, brisk walking is one of the best exercises we can do for overall fitness. It suits people of all ages and fitness levels, it’s easy to get started and there’s no complicated technique to learn or equipment to buy.

Walking is an excellent way to get fit because it uses nearly all the muscles and, as you have to carry your body weight, you can get a good workout from it.

It’s also safer on the joints and the back than most other forms of exercise because you’re not jumping up and down, so the impact is low.

Studies have shown that taking a daily 20-minute walk can reduce the risk of heart attack as much as 50%, it also reduces high blood pressure and helps to burn fat to keep weight under control.

Walking and other weight bearing exercises (Strength training) helps to increase bone mass, which protects against osteoporosis and bone fractures.

In the first two weeks, go for a 20-minute walk every other day and then increase this to 40 minutes. At first try to do five 20-minute walks per week totalling 100 minutes a week.

Once you get used to the regular exercise, increase this to 40 minutes for five times a week.

You can then gradually increase this as you see fit, if you want to walk every day for 40 minutes or even an hour so be it. Remember the more you walk the more fat that will be burned off.

The best pace for fitness training will make you slightly breathless, but you should still be comfortable and be able to carry on a conversation.

As you get fitter, you’ll want to stretch a little harder to keep your heart rate up.

Try lengthening your strides, increasing your pace. Keep your shoulders back, your chest lifted and your tummy pulled in when you walk, hold your head up for open, easy breathing.

Practical Tips…

· If your feeling stressed, try counting your steps repeatedly from one to ten as you walk, this helps some people achieve a meditative effect and can be a great tension reliever when practiced over a full 40 minutes.

· Time yourself, measure the distance or increase the gradient to make the workout more challenging. Drink plenty of fluids during and after your walk.

· Make safety your first consideration. Don’t walk after dark except in well-lit, busy places. Start the walk slowly, and then gradually increase the pace.

So, go ahead in all other activities try to move, move, move. Try parking the car further away from your destination so you can walk the extra distance, hide all your remote controls so you have to get up and change the channels manually.

These all help burn those extra calories and body fat from your frame.

Quick weight loss is promised by diets all the time. “Lose 10 pounds over night,” the ads will scream. Most people know in the back of their mind that quick weight loss is either not healthy or is a short term fix.

Most quick weight loss pounds are only water. Your body will flush water out of your system and the scale will show a quick weight loss of 3 to 10 pounds. The quick weight loss is however short lived. The second you drink any fluids your body will hold the water and your quick weight loss will disappear.

The short tem success of quick weight loss in a low carb diet is also this loss of water. Dieters are excited when they see the quick weight loss however this excitement is short lived. Once carbs are introduced back into their diet, boom, there goes the quick weight loss.

Instead of being suckered into all the quick weight loss claims, why don’t your try these common sense weight loss tips to use when dining out to help you achieve long term success. You won’t see a quick weight loss by following these tips but you will see some really great long term changes in your body.

1.) If you must have a dessert, split it with a friend.

2.) Start your meal with soup and a salad. If you fill up on healthy foods first, you may eat less of the high calorie entries.

3.) Immediately ask for a box to go and place half of your meal in it. Not only will you cut calories but you now have an entire additional meal for later.

4.) Ask for non-fat or low-fat dressing on the side when ordering your salad. You can then control the portion size. A high calorie dressing can add 200-400 additional calories to your health salad.

5.) At a fast food restaurant, always order the small size. Did you know a super size French fry at Mc Donald’s is 29g grams of fat and 610 calories??

Once again, these simple restaurant tips will not result in quick weight loss but if you start using these and other weight loss tips every day, you will start seeing the long term success you truly deserve. Always think long term and don’t be tricked by diets that promise “incredible quick weight loss”.

My name is Greg Ryan. I am a high profile fitness expert, champion bodybuilder and best selling author. However, I didn’t start out as one. I had to learn through class rooms and experience. There are no better teachers than exercising on the floors of all those health clubs I visited for so many years.

I had no clue how to workout properly, how many reps, sets, minutes on a treadmill or foods to eat. But, I learned through trial and error. It amazes me how I have kept going consistently all these years coming from a non disciplined background. Here are ten things that have helped me lose weight more efficiently during each visit and have helped me keep going for twenty years straight:

1. Treat your time in the gym as your quiet time for YOU!

4. Monitor your heart rate EVERY time you exercise your heart.

5. Never be afraid to ask for help.

6. Do not waste much time between exercises.

With the popularity of the new lap-band bariatric surgery procedure, more and more previously overweight people are approaching plastic surgeons to address the aftermath on their body of their massive weight loss of more than 100 pounds.

While bariatric surgery can do wonders to help you lose weight, the downside is that you will come out of the weight loss process with a lot of extra sagging skin and stubborn areas of fatty deposits that you simply cannot get rid of through regular exercise and diet. For some of these areas liposuction can work quite well to help contour your body. In other areas more radical procedures will have to be performed.

Skin Elasticity Issues Following Weight Loss Surgery

Where a more average-sized person can easily lose 20-40 pounds, and their skin has enough elasticity to bounce back from being stretched, the skin of a post-bariatric surgery patient simply is unable to do so because it has been over-stretched for too long.

Because of this loss of elasticity, post weight loss patients will require much more work performed by a plastic surgeon to achieve the same result as the more average-sized person is able to achieve on their own through simple diet and regular exercise.

Candidacy for Liposuction after Weight Loss Surgery

Generally speaking, the prime candidate for liposuction is the patient who is of average weight and who simply needs some targeted areas of fat removed. However, often post-weight loss surgery patients can see some good results utilizing liposuction as well.

But, it is important to know that these patients will not see the optimum results over time because as they age their skin will be much more likely to sag than someone who has not undergone a massive weight loss.

As long as a weight loss patient is realistic in their expectations of their outcome from liposuction they can be a good candidate to have it performed, usually in conjunction with other plastic surgery procedures such as a tummy tuck, abdominal lift, breast lift, arm lift, face lift, and neck lifts.

How Much Sagging Skin is Normal Following a Massive Weight Loss?

Generally, age and the amount of weight lost determine how much sagging skin you will have on your body after a massive weight loss. If you are younger, then you are in a position to have less sagging skin because skin tends to have more elasticity when you are younger versus when you are older.

Additionally, if you have lost 100 pounds you will have much less sagging skin than someone who has had to loose 250 pounds to reach their goal weight.

If you have undergone a massive weight loss, due to diet and exercise or through bariatric surgery, you are to be commended on your achievement. If you are unhappy with your new post weight loss body, then you should consider scheduling an appointment with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to discuss your options for improving your new body’s appearance. Through liposuction and various other procedures you can achieve a body that you will be happy to show off.

Liposuction has become the most common cosmetic treatment – or rather, surgery – in the USA, with upwards of 400,000 individuals seeking liposuction treatments alone in 2006, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. This is nearly double the amount of treatments reported by the same institution a decade earlier. Surely, the number of people seeking liposuction will continue to increase as the prices go down and doctors compete for patients.

And how the numbers have come down! Looking online, it is possible to find advertisements for liposuction starting at $137! This is quite misleading. For starters, it surely does not include the total amount of fees that will make their way on to the patients bill. For instance, hidden fees might include hospital room / operating room fees, fees from an anesthesiologist, both of which can be significant.

There is an even more damaging cost to cheap liposuction though, far worse than an extra fee tacked into your bill: a messed up looking body.

While liposuction, as mentioned, has become an incredibly common procedure, and one which is usually performed successfully, like any medical procedure – this is surgery, after all! – there are real risks. And common sense will reveal that when doctors charge less and less, there is often an increased risk for all the bad things you do not want to have happen to a patient.

One particularly reprehensible act that’s been reported is for a doctor to simply take the patients money, cut them open, seal them back, and… never perform the removal of fat. Or at best, perform a very small bit of removal, and then leave it at that. it’s something that it’s very hard to catch and would be very hard and very expensive to prove legally.

More realistically though, going for the bottom of the barrel in prices without weighing in all the other important factors – such as the doctors experience, his or her reputation, and his or her willingness to answer all your questions and work with you in your liposuction treatment, looking at just the cost of the procedure can end up with a world of trouble.

Would you really want to risk…

Strange folds in the skin? Weird dimples and bumps? Self-described skin deformation? Visible scars on the buttocks, thighs, abs, arms and legs? What about scars on the face? Perhaps even worse, what about skin deformation on your face?

The point is that finding the lowest price is not the goal of getting liposuction: getting a great looking body is the goal, and just as you wouldn’t go out and buy the cheapest car and expect it to run great, don’t seek out the cheapest liposuction and expect much more than cheap results. It’s not worth it!

One of the most popular approaches to remove stomach fat and contour its shape is through laser liposuction. This plastic surgery procedure has become the most common form of fat removal in the United States, and the new age surgery uses a laser instead of harsh suctioning which is safer for patients. Fat removal on the stomach is popular because it is one of the most difficult areas on the body that is resistant to exercise even crunches and sit ups.

Having plastic surgery on the stomach area of your body will remove the fat deposits that just won’t go away. Laser liposuction on the stomach isn’t just removal of fat tissue cells, but it is also a way to contour your body and give back curves where love handles and unsightly bulges have made you feel uncomfortable. This type of plastic surgery has also become increasingly more popular among male patients as well.

Laser surgery is quickly replacing tummy tuck surgery which was previously considered the best way to lose pounds on the abdomen. Because this method is safer and limits the amount of post-operative pain in patients, it is becoming a more preferred way for plastic surgeons. It can be done on the lower or upper parts of the abdomen, although most patients opt for both areas at the same time to get the full contouring effect.

Using a laser instead of a large suctioning device leaves patients with smaller scars and a tighter skin tone. Because the laser is as small as a needle, the laser tool needs only tiny incisions to perform the surgery. There is also less bleeding since the laser burns the blood vessels disallowing any blood to leak into skin tissue.

As stated before, laser liposuction has minimal post-operative pain, so patients are often able to return to daily activities shortly afterwards. Patients can have the plastic surgery operation on a Friday and return to work on Monday with little uncomfortable pain. Medication is determined by the severity of pain and discomfort reported by the patient. Some people claim that simple Tylenol is enough to dull the pain after surgery.

Older techniques used for liposuction required patients to wear a girdle that kept the stomach skin tight while going through recovery. Laser liposuction actually firms the skin and patients report a much tighter and firmer area after surgery. Leakage from the tiny, healing incisions may be observed, but this is normal after plastic surgery.

Some swelling may occur after liposuction in the abdominal area. The swelling will go down after a few days, but it may contribute to the discomfort after the surgery. Patients are advised that the swelling my hide the complete results from fat removal on the subject. It may take weeks before you will notice a different in the stomach since swelling often makes the stomach look larger during the healing phase of plastic surgery.

If you are looking to remove fat from your stomach, ask your plastic surgeon about a safer way using laser liposuction.

The internet is full of raw food diet testimonials and for good reason. The raw food diet is one of the healthiest diets that a person can follow. Not only will it get you to a healthy weight, it will help your body reduce its cravings for sugar and increase its energy level.

As much as we hate to admit it, a great many of the convenience foods that are consumed today are loaded with toxins from being processed. Most of us are used to eating these foods can tolerate the way they make us feel. But, we also realize that the closer you can get anything to its natural state, the better it is for our bodies and this is especially true of food.

The raw food diet is loaded with uncooked fruits and vegetables. It is the protein part of the diet that becomes tricky, since most of the food items high in protein are meats and dairy products. Tofu, nuts, seeds and beans are good sources of protein that are not meat or dairy products.

I don’t consider this one of the easiest food plans to follow, but if you suffer from sugar cravings this is the diet for you. Even if you can follow this diet for 2-3 weeks to jump start your weight loss, you realize the benefits from eating raw foods. The experts say that they follow the raw food diet plan about 80% of the time. While the program is extremely healthy and you see marked improvement in your energy level and the way that feel, it is quite rigid when it comes to enjoying the foods that you love.

Personally, I feel that any weight loss plan that eliminates foods is setting you up for failure. Nobody wants to eliminate foods completely, especially if it a food that you enjoy.
